ART HISTORY GROUP
We run a lively group where we encourage members to give us talks on art or artists of their choice, but there is no pressure, so you can just sit and listen if you prefer. Often people make their own Digital Slide Shows however, help is available for those who are not too sure how to go about it!

February 5th - A presentation by Michael Stewart based on his recently published book "Patterns of Eternity"
March 5th - "Artist for the Ages" Louis Comfort Tiffany by Pat Kerr. Louis Comfort Tiffany 1848-1933 was the foremost American designer of the late 19th and 20th centuries. In fact he was flourishing while Queen Victoria was on the throne. His father's wealth provided him with an education and the opportunity to travel extensively, and meet many of the original creative personalities of his time. His passion for glass made him the greatest maker of glass vessels, but he also achieved fame for his metal work, jewellery, painting and much more.
April 9th - Pottery by Pam Fox-Russell. How did it begin? All those beautiful things. How is it done?
May 7th - Michelangelo 1475-1564 by Eric Buesnel. His times, his triumphs, his tribulations. The story of this Florentine sculptor, painter and architect is as much about problems and politics during the Renaissance as about this artist's amazing achievements.
June 4th - Art and 19th Century Literature. Poetry and prose, read by June Evans, are used to complement a collection of paintings presented by Mary Webb.
